MCU

I grew up loving comic books. My zenith years of collecting were in the late 80s and early 90s when Superman died, and Batman ruled the multiplex. I was a huge Marvel and X-Men fan for the record, but I digress. And while it took a while, Marvel finally got its act together and helped usher in the modern superhero genre and the shared universe concept.

I know that the Marvel films (Or the MCU per the fans) represent the apocalypse of filmmaking for some cinema lovers. And I admit watching Marvel crank hit after hit with alarming speed has been both ominous and impressive at the same time. (And they now have TV shows on Disney +!) But hear me out, when you strip the Marvel brand name and watch the films on their own merits, they are solid populist entertainment. There are both stinkers and some impressive filmmaking (and one Oscar best picture nomination.) So, to make my case, I decided to rewatch and review all the MCU films in order of release. Along the way, I’ll discuss the MCU world-building aspects, Stan Lee’s unique cameos, and those annoying post-credit teasers.
