I’m excited to announce that “The Projection Booth” has two new writers contributing reviews and articles to the site. Both gents are longtime friends and share a love for film, television, and this wild new media landscape.
Without further ado, here are the introductions:
Scott DuVall
It’s fitting that “The Projection Booth” now has an actual working projectionist writing for the site. Yes, kids, film projection is still a thing in Los Angeles. And many times, I’ve gone to a classic revival screening only to discover that Scott was the man making all the magic happen in that dark booth at the back of the theatre. And he’s more than just a projectionist but an emerging filmmaker with many impressive credits and a deep knowledge of the language of movies. Scott shares a love of cinema with an eclectic taste that matches mine. He loves everything from the big MCU blockbusters to the long-forgotten silent gems. I encourage you to check out his bio on the About Us page.
Christian Johnson
One of my longtime best friends, Christian, and I have seen many movies together throughout the decades, usually followed by a fierce debate and discussion. And Christian has strong opinions on his entertainment choices, where we’ve been on opposite ends of the spectrum or in perfect synch. He’s more of a plot mechanics guy, while I enjoy the character-driven fare. And I’m glad we can bring that long 30-plus-year debate to “The Projection Booth.” Christian leans more mainstream, where he has a love/hate relationship with the DC films, particularly the Batman franchise. But he loves his quirky, offbeat films as well. Like Scott, he has a passionate view of the Hollywood landscape, and I can’t wait to see what he brings to the site.
So, look for both Scott and Christian in the bylines, along with yours truly, and let us know what you think in the comments.
